Volunteers Welcome!

The Fall Mountain Food Shelf and our Friendly Meals (Meals On Wheels) program have no paid positions. We rely entirely on our corps of dependable volunteers for everything we do!

Volunteer Descriptions

Below are some of the most common volunteering opportunities we have, however it’s not an exhaustive list. If you have a skill set that you think may benefit our programs, we sincerely hope you’ll reach out!

 

Food Shelf

• We rely on volunteer drivers to pick up food donations throughout our area and deliver them to the food shelf. Many of these deliveries are recurring and consistently scheduled, but some happen only occasionally or on a one-off basis.

• We have folks who staff the Food Shelf, packaging boxes and assisting community members with pick ups. These shifts can be regularly scheduled and are based on our hours of operation.

Friendly Meals (Meals on Wheels)

• We have a team that lovingly prepares and packages our Friendly Meals for Meals on Wheels deliveries. While volunteers passionate about cooking and baking are absolutely welcome, we have plenty of roles that don’t involve directly making the food, so no cooking or baking experience is required. These shifts occur every Tuesday and Thursday from 8-11:30AM. 

• Our Meals on Wheels delivery drivers volunteer from 11:30AM-1PM every Tuesday and Thursday. Not only do these drivers bring food to people in need, they also offer a kind word, a short visit, and can relay a message of a need for further assistance to other community service agencies.

Administrative Volunteers

• From fundraising to sending out thank you cards to donors to maintaining our website and Facebook page, a lot goes on “behind the scenes” to help keep the lights on and keep the community engaged. Tasks and needs vary depending on time of year and current volunteers, so if you’re interested, please reach out to chat with us!
